What you're describing is actually known as the "sixth sense", also known as "intuition".

Intuition is the ability to sense changes around you without seeing or hearing them, the brain detects these changes through changes in air pressure.

When someone is close enough to see you, the air pressure changes, the brain picks it up, which makes you aware of their presense without the need to see or hear them.

So what's the natural mechanism by which the sixth sense works?

I was in the supermarket last week and blasted one loud, wet and nasty.

Everyone in a 6ft radius ran and screamed. That is my superpower! :steamhappy:

Simple.

The brain picks up on all kinds of signals that you, yourself, may not notice... especially when you're sleeping.

Tiny changes in light, darkness, sounds, vibrations, or air pressure... all those little changes can give someone's presence away even if they're as quiet as a mouse.

The brain constantly scans your surroundings, even the most minute change can and will be detetcted by the brain.

Ever had a moment were you were sleeping and then you woke up because someone was standing close to you even though they made no sound?

That's intuition.

Intuition also works when you're sleeping... which means light isn't a factor then.
the term for number 2 would be intro-spection, youre using every sense that you have at once to do something, usually find an item or person, or you can use it to hear at a distance

Third eye
I've used my supernatural powers to deduce op does not deserve a jester
it is so creepy when you're minding your business and you catch someone staring
without you, it's like somebody switched the stars back on
I can see into everybody's hearts, and everybody's dreams
I'm not the same without you

Dumb people tend to mystify things, especially physics and psychology.

They'll take literal thought experiments and treat them like an actual phenomena (example: Shcrodingers cat)

My person favorite "idiot trap" is the quantum immortality rabbit hole.

Basically, OP, you're mystifying ♥♥♥♥ because your lack of understanding.

The pinned comment doesn't even answer point 1, 2, or 3.
