It does suck you out of the pirate world and into the office world occasionally which at first is a bit oi! I'm a pirate! not lets play office man!
The bulk is free roaming and hit what you like and do lots of side quests and so on.
Cannot compare to other AC games because not played them.
I love taking on ships and doing the mega swashbuckler swinging across, jumping all over, and choosing blades and pistoles / muskets its a blast.
AC Shadows is not good. AC games have not been good since Black Flag. Hell, Ubisoft games have not been good since Black Flag.
i loved the first 2 AC games. That said, I will ALWAYS choose an Atlus game over an Ubisoft game. Hell, over the games of most developers.

If it's open world game AC odyssey and origins would be a lot cheaper. Ubisoft is not known for innovative gameplay.
