Does anyone think Gamefaqs is awful?
It's full of activist mods and admins and they allow trolls who agree with their ideology to do whatever they want without punishing them and wrongfully ban those on the other side for wrongthink. Does anyone feel that way?

Also the site allows personal echo chambers on public boards via two way blocking. Users can arbitrarily censor others at will and gatekeep their topics and posts against dissenting views.

I don't use it, and it sounds like maybe you should not either given you've made your entire bio a rant about how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is.

Welcome to every website on the internet.
I haven't used Gamefaqs since I had to look up a crude walkthrough on how to beat Final Fantasy X.

It's an awful site. They even admit it themselves by closing down the Politics board and preventing new people posting on Current Events. With game wikis taking over, there is no need for walkthroughs/FAQs anymore. GameFAQs is running on fumes and I see it closing down before 2030.

It gets worse. Any suspension/ purgatory causes permanent loss of CE access. For a lot of old users, CE is the only thing of value left on Gamefaqs, as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as that board is. Revoke access, and hardcore users of 20+ years no longer have any reason to visit. It is also having a chilling effect on posting, as users need to walk on eggshells as any slip up can cause permanent loss of access.

CEmen I've talked to have moved to Discord / off site places. They admit Gamefaqs is no longer fun. Some have stopped posting on a regular basis.
two way blocking sounds pretty great honestly
It was a fun site when everyone actually tried to write a guide and discuss abt game tricks and tips. Used to be the best place to find gameshark codes.

Now it’s no different from every other gaming forum: full of opinionated ppl who dont add anything to the game discussion

im surprised it's still around tbh

I have not used it for anything else than clicking on search results to read answer for video game guides, but from what I've seen it's a very childish userbase
They often have superior guides in the old format. Wikis are better in a lot of ways but some of the old guides are way more comprehensive for the jrpgs.

The Q&A section accomplishes what I would want out of any part of their forum anyways.

Yeah a lot of children. Manchildren. Balding neckbeards on Gamefaqs who spend all day circlejerking about politics all day. People who have failed to adult and use a dying video game website as their main social outlet.
I only use GameFAQs for RPG game guides such as Final Fantasy and GTA games. The GameFAQs first and foremost is a game guide website just like modern day wiki. Community aspect were added much later.

I remember when back in the 90's I subscribe to GameFAQs print magazines and later early 2000's online print magazines. I would say there's nothing wrong with the website if you are looking up for help for games guides.

I'm surprised they are even still around? I haven't used that site since 99/2000. I used to look up cheat codes for the PS1.
their old video game guides were made by people who knew what they were doing.

I didn't even know they ban people. But I only posted on the forums about games themselves, generally not discussing things outside of games/consoles.

I still occasionally use the site when looking up information for 20+ year old games. Because wikis and googling for these games usually brings mixed results. Just recently I checked out some information about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Digimon Digital Card Battler.
