Probably they don't understand how the hit % work.
It is not an 'easy' game - It won't make you feel like you can just walk through a battle.
You have to think do I risk sending that spearman taking on that skaven over therealone and hoping to keep it occupied while my Wolf Priest beats up that other skaven with the smuggler shooting it too.
Or
Do I pull that spearman to make a good solid victory over that skaven the Wolf Priest is fighting and Then....
Watch a youtube on it and see if you like it from that.
It is easy to belt a game down or big it up.
Out of the initiative turn based combat games i am really liking it still and have not tried the other factions.
A downside is the customisations could be a little more for aesthetics.
The balance is a mess, it's really awkward and slow to play, and it was abandoned before all of the promised content was added.
Though looking at it, the reviews aren't that bad. Better than I expected actually.
Your warband which grows as you gain xp / levels.
Has a lot of custom to the characters for weapons and skills.
Permenent Injuries can add a very different factor into the squad too.
I got one very good spear Zealot who has high dodge and because he lost an arm he gets extra dodge %.
He is my go to guy when i want a dependable fighter to occupy one or two enemies.
Balance?
I can't speak for that personally .
you can choose your missions and see if the risk / reward is worth it or not.
If it says 'deadly' I usually avoid it and go for something else, you don't have to fight every day.
But you do need to get your wyrdstone orders in so don't slack off. Once those quotas are met you got money to burn and different factions to send them off to to get different bonuses as you get higher reputation with them.
I just hired a fanatic and a huge executioner did not take the path I had hoped - the one with a rifled smuggler waiting for them and their backup with them too.
It went around and straight into my flail wielding fanatic and pulverised the new recruit in two blows.
Got my Witch hunter Captain/ Leader to pin him and my own Executioner came to the combat a turn later and delivered vengeance.
The Smugglers can vary, one lost their ability to use ranged weapons so now they are very useulf with a sword and the other smuggler I keep boosting up their stats for ranged and in emergency bit on the melee / sword. BEcause of that tragedy I now have a great shot and a dependable fighter. They work well as a team.
The Wyrdstone loot and enemy type strength is a good indicator of what mission I would go for.
Not played multi player yet.
This is Mordheim - the guy waffles on but its first video i got up on search in ten seconds that showed the gameplay.
https://youtu.be/QvBYApWwj0k?t=1060
I started it at beginning of a mission and the guy is on mute for me maybe he says something useful - i dont know.
But it will show graphics and stuff. He may have sped up the video mine is bit slower than that.
Drawback to GoG version is it does not have the multi player for it (as far as i know) - on steam you need discord to set it up - ask on Mordheim's steam forums how to set it up.
But yeah the atmosphere is what I really like about it.
There is not a place on there you think 'i could take my sweet Glendahoe here some day after the war...'
I don't need to look at the reviews. It's not the first sale the game has, and it won't be last -- the Warhammer stuff is not my cup of tea, and this thing is no exception. I'm ignoring all of these by default.
Well good for you.
It is line of sight and if you got your ambush set up and they walk into it even if you did not know they were there before and they walked into it then bam you smack them one.
I find not charging about but treating it like an actual place of conflict and keeping your 'wits' helps a lot for that.
The Early game your warband is still getting its strength so everything has to be the buddy buddy system - i still am very cautious about sending someone off on their own.
