movie remakes
why do things need to be *updated* ? like i can't think of a single remake that improved on the original, and sure some movies are a product of their time but i think thats one of the great things about movies.

With games bringing them up to modern standards mechanically isn't always bad yea.

But movies? Just make a new movie of your own instead of taking advantage of a popular existing product  I hate it
totally get both of your points
games is fine for the technical side but movies ugh

Excuses to milk the already working formula further

It's probably due to a lack of creativity. Or people just wanting an upgrade since the capability to produce higher quality stuff is around now. Wasn't that Bladerunner movie a remake of the older Bladerunner? Idk. But it was really cool. Never watched the old one. Also this is for you...

thanks for that lol
Also blame the audience especially if the company is stupid and thinks that they have to depend on same set of old fans forever. Old fans are closed minded and boring. They will never accept newer things by the way. Catering to them is regressive and drags everyone back. Making new things get new audience in every cycle than same old fans that drag down everyone. As casual fans already know the old contents and mostly never want to see the same things again
I'd hate to generalize as some movies that were remade were good and a new audience had the opportunity to enjoy them. Other times it seemed a cash grab and the movies weren't good.

I'd judge on a case by case basis.

Sequels can be just as bad going on forever.

Agreed.

Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Star Wars, Halloween. I could name more.
