Honestly, I think they should be tried as minors because their brain hasn’t fully developed, it wouldn’t be fair to charge them as adults because their are factors that contribute to how they act.

Since children are more malleable, I would assume they would respond better to rehabilitation and therapy vs an adult.

Hence the difference in punishment.

What is legally defined as a 'child' is also something the courts can address on a per-case basis.

Those youth who commit serious/violent crimes should be locked away in a dedicated insane asylum for further inspection.
They should be thoroughly examined and treated with some sort of therapy, in hopes to find out what is wrong with their deranged mentality and what the root cause was, and possibly find a solution so that it can be prevented from happening again to them or another youth.

There are solutions to nearly everything..... usually.

Teens, yes.

Kids? Depends on the age and circumstances, IMO.

so we should look for the emotionless benefit to the situation, as this killer most likely did, and use them in inhumane medical experimentation.

i guess when the state uses people's lives for its own purposes its okay, but when citizens do it ... ?
