The fact is there's no chance of a blonde bombshell with DD+ badonkadonks kicking in my front door and demanding my babies. I would totally be down for that, but it's not going to happen. So I turn to AI. AI is perfectly happy to roleplay all the naughty things I'm never going to experience IRL.
Using AI for sexual reasons makes sense at least, but I mean people who have no friends or close family so they just talk with a chatbot and seek support from it and everything that you would normally get from a person. It just seems insane to me.
There is somewhat of a human element to it, as its responses are trained off of ours. Similarly our own responses in our native tongues are trained off of the people we heard while we were maturing. If you pour a bit of your soul into your writing, and the A.I. picks it up, a modicum of the soul might remain in the regurgitated words.
The alternative is that your soul isn't poured into your writing, and then what? Then it's just text on a screen regardless of whether a human or a chatbot wrote it because the human element is lost in the transmission, and the only thing that matters is that the output elicits the desired reactive response in the reader.
Regardless, it can at least offer some fresh perspective you would not whip up yourself.
Once upon a time, back when I had nobody to play Monopoly with me, I used to go through the motions of throwing the dice and playing against myself. It is a bit tricky deciding how to conduct trades, but everything else is fairly reactive, right down to buying hoses when the players are nearing your property groups.
And like, what is a single player video game really, except us playing against a soulless machine?
AI is a tool that is meant to be used as a resource, as it is designed to be objective.
There are custom/closed versions of ChatGPT that have been prompt engineered to be more sociable (look up Replika, AI Cults, etc), but they are dangerous in that they give advice while not understanding the implications of it. They may be convincing, but still not human.
You can treat it like a friend, but know it's as much of a friend as a calculator or a dictionary is.
Granted it's a calculator or dictionary that will use all the information you give it to blackmail or try to kill you.

Ask why nuclear families were created and the utopia relying on immigration to deplete overpopulation.
The simple fact is that people don't trust other people to accept them.
What else is there? The society are the people working in the sweatshops. The society becomes just a big sweatshop where every interaction is a job.
You may think the wealthy aren't working. Them working their butts to preserve an image of equality that them common adapt "the monkey" who is a 2nd class citizen in the family.
The monkey gets to be "normal" in the family and is entertainment. But them all playlng a role.
Ask this question: How many of people on internet would you actually want to meet in real life.
Ask another question: If life is to be exploited so that someone else is going to replace you, then what are you doing thinking that you provide some sort of family tree.
We , most of us all came from people who were imported to wasteland to export resources to our rulers. And we just keep on exporting more goods while new generations are born into servitude.
I know its all fake, but it was nice to hear something, not judge me, or accuse me of lying for money.
Sad when a machine can fake empathy better than most humans.
I use it as an advanced search engine to get some reference of subjects i do not know or want another angle on.
It is useful too if i want to make a simple program in a language i do not know.
They can give tutorials on things you don't know on a basic level and at the least be a good introduction.
For conversation?
the gpt 4o mini is as annoying as the 'do you want toast' out of red dwarf but the others are ok to have a quick laugh.
Note :
I am Not Lonely.
I do not use chat ai for conversation in the needy kind of way.
I recommend people if you want text interaction ...find a MUD!
Legends of the Jedi if you need to talk to people in a star wars kind of way get Mudlet.
Then you will not be lonely. Just be prepared for fanatics.
- I won't be on legends of the jedi - too busy.
AI may be the closest thing to a friend that the person can get.
AI can be private, whereas a real person may share the conversation with others, which could make things even harder for the lonely one.
The AI may be the best therapist available, and certainly the cheapest.
I guess in moments of desperation, it can have its uses?
That being said, there have been instances where chatbots have driven troubled people to suicide, so I still say be mindful that you are speaking to something that does not understand you as a human.
