Help me understand why my thinking was wrong please !
Help me understand where my thinking went wrong please . I'm not a " know it all " and will admit when I'm wrong . A few moments ago I made a post saying that balatro is a game of strategy and not skill. I made the statement that skill is something you can improve upon via a motor function .

I said that strategy was about decision making and planing in the mind .

Well apparently this is wrong and balatro does have skill ... I'd like to learn exactly how and where my thinking went wrong .

I'll briefly explain my way of thinking and you can tell me where it went wrong .

So I come from fighting games and those games are skillful. In fact any game that requires you to have precise timing of inputs can be skillful no matter the genre . Fighting games also have strategy where you have to constantly think , adapt , and formulate a new plan. The execution which is separate is what I'd call skill .

I can repeat a series of inputs to do a damaging combo and that execution over time gets better . The timing becomes just right and you can link things that are in one frame , or that are difficult to do. Same with a game like DMC the concept is the same. it almost becomes effort less with repetition hence the motor function.

The strategy in fighting games comes from split second decision making , setups , and plans of said execution such as baiting and opponent to whiff before striking . I'd call this a strategy because it's a plan formed in the mind.

IN BALATRO you only click the mouse and can't improve how you click that mouse . If you were some how able to even improve the speed at which you clicked the mouse it would serve no purpose . Everything in balatro to me at least... seems to be you thinking with your head and making decisions .
I just don't see the skill .

I'll accept I'm wrong with no problem but please explain to me where exactly my train of thought went wrong and how i got confused . Please correct me as i love to learn !
