Never had any RAM problems with Firefox and I've been using it for years. It's true that it's been getting more complex and cluttered lately. Consider using a Firefox fork or resetting the browser completely and starting from scratch, maybe you have extensions or settings that make it use way more memory than intended.
Chrome is ok as well but I only use it for testing purposes not for everyday browsing.

I haven't used chrome in a while but at the time it was faster and offered the same addon support I was looking for. I have heard that alphabet started limiting what addons you can use sometime earlier this year to prevent ad-blockers but even if they haven't succeeded their intention remains clear. On mobile firefox is garbage but so is everything else.

Firefox too, you just need to mod it a bit.

Id say Google chrome is safer, but firefox is the lesser of two evils

I used Firefox for a while and it treated me well. Not saying I won’t ever use other browsers but I grew up with Firefox.

Doesn't matter. Them all use the same internet.

You can try other browsers that are using Gecko engine (used in Firefox) or Chromium engine (used in Chrome).

The world does not end with "regular" Firefox or Chrome.

Stay with FF obviously, why give in to the evil? The memory usage sucks but you can jsut restart FF every day or so, it keeps the state of everything so just mild annoyment.

I use Firefox and ungoogled Chromium.

Fire Fox with extensive security features enabled and default to strict protection.

Don't bother with Google Chrome.

When a browser starts limiting useful ad blockers is when it's time to drop it. Using the internet without one is like going to a brothel without a condom; you'll inevitably catch something.
