Anyone notice that racism seems more open than it was 20 years ago?
White people seem more bold to express racist views than they were 2 decades ago. Social Media of all kinds are good examples.

I'd say the Internet and its ability to amplify messages are to blame.

Complete opposite, the only thing different is that people react really strongly to it and give it tons of attention when someone uses a certain slur.

No single word deserves that much power

I think racism got worse when the media started spamming the divisive racebaiting BS back in ~2011 or so.
I mean we have to take a Minute to define what racism is... Saying a word or making a joke isnt racist. Going around with say a white supremacist mindset I would consider to be racist not wanting someone in your family to be with or hang out with someone of another race because of what you think they do I would consider racist. Words mean nothing people need to grow up and learn what the real problem is.

We don't say the n-word, but then we say "Black people fatigue". The intent is what matters, in the end, and I'm hearing the latter a lot more than I heard the former 10 years ago.
No, not the least. To the OP, you need to get away from the keyboard more. That is no joke. There is a whole world out there.

Greatly depends. Racist. No.

It coincides with the rise of such slogans like "end whiteness" and "white privilege".
That's what happens when you focus on race.

I kinda agree with that. But I'm arguing that white people seem to express more anti-black and anti-"people of color" attitudes more openly now. Look at how people complain about "woke" and DEI, for example.

I'll admit I do need to get out more. But the world is also scary, and I'm not just talking about my anxiety and phobias.

Then why not condemn both, instead of excusing one wrong with another? Seemed easy enough to me to push back against wokeness back in the day, and against the far-right now.

If it's based off their race, then it would be racist.
a topic like this isn't suited here, not because it's bad but because alot lack the mental capacity for critical thinking from being soo online so stuff like logic and empathy will be be thrown out the window, they'll either take it as an personal attack on them or just bat the topic away entirely which would be fine if it was fairly conistent and not only convient when rooted in bias uwu

I do condemn both. Just adding some context, especially since OP explicitly focused on "white people", as if it's just coming from them.

I would say that focusing on "white privilege", wanting "reparations" and spreading the view that black people are oppressed brought back racism from the "colorblind" era of the 1990s.

Just tactics designed to separate people and turn them against each other. Coincidentally timed with the Occupy Wall Street movement. Perhaps to get people fighting each-other instead of "fighting the system"

Perhaps not. But can't blame me for trying to start a discussion....

Not at all, if anything it's going down. Hate crime is around the same levels statistically as 2008 to 2012. Population has gone up however

The latter term refers to behaviors and actions, not the people and their slave history like the former
