So I heard what EA (Technically called Electronic 'Arts') has just done with itself, with the CEO and its board selling the entirety of the corporation to Saudi Arabia and others. I gotta say, there's a lot of irony in this matter.

If you don't care about this, that's cool; because honestly I don't care for EA either. It's been many years since I last bought ANY game connected to EA. I'm just here to say that any who really know this company should've seen this coming.

Because what is EA truly about more than anything else? Greed. Sure, many companies including Ubisoft and Take-Two have their infamy, but EA had a special way of wearing greed on their sleeves.

They done it all:
- Microtransactions
- Overpriced DLC galore.
- Lootboxes
- Yearly versions of games with no real changes.
- Buying studios
- Gutting the same studios
- Chasing outdated trends.
- Inferior sequels.
- Really buggy unfinished game releases.
- Unnecessary always-online requirements

Good grief, what have I left out?

EA was so hungry for money that they tripped themselves up with that same hunger, depriving themselves of that money.

Remember Anthem? No? Some game that was supposed to last 10 years? Yeah, it didn't last two. How about Star Wars Lootbox-front II? Or Dead Space 3? Battlefield 2042. Mobile Dungeon Keeper.
The List goes on and on and on...

So despite all the profits it made, EA also accumulated a lot of debt, go figure.
Welp, it looks like EA finally reached the Milestone in their ever-eternal quest for ALL THE MONEY - selling itself out in its entirety to the likes of Saudi Arabia.

Specifically, EA now belongs to Arabia's PIF, as well as Silver Lake and Affinity.

As you might've guessed, many people aren't happy about it, especially the social activists working under EA. To that I have to say, you really should've seen this coming.

Selling itself out is as EA as EA can possibly get. The corporation was ALWAYS about money above everything else. It was often very stupid in how it achieved that, but that didn't change its core pursuit of profits. Everything, from games to the social politics they promoted, was just the means to their fiscal ends.

And now? EA just made the biggest possible sale it ever could - itself. And here's the expected twist - the interest of the purchasing clients don't align with many stances EA claimed to take in its past, because EA never really cared.
We all should've known: EA sells out on everything, including its former 'beliefs,' the moment it was profitable to do so. THAT is EA being EA.

I swore off EA games all the way back when they stuck that always-online requirement into Simcity 2013... a single-player game.
And the company just got worse from there.

Back to Now: The good news about this historic 55 billion purchase is that it doesn't finalize until like 2027-ish. That means you still have a few more years to play whatever EA titles before things change.

have to agree.

also have to admit im not surprised. they had a really great run, but yea, too much mismanaging and predatory practices end up like so.

i think the saudi arabian group will do a nice job, because EA's biggest titles are the football ones, and Saudi arabia is huge on football, so i think they've got a good home.

i don't think it *can* get worse honestly. how mollified would you be if the saudi owned group turns the company around and it starts getting better?
