How thick is the concrete layer that separates floor and ceiling?
What quality does the wood have?
Was the hardwood floor laid out on foam padding to dampen sound or directly on the concrete?
If you add a linoleum layer and on top of that a foam padding and then the hardwood, the sound will be almost non-existent.
What do you think about vinyl flooring?
I have vinyl flooring in my room and it is quite easy to clean and the stone tile texture looks nice too.
Can't you just take your shoes off when you enter your apartment, wipe your dogs / cats paws after they come inside, and just don't spill stuff on your carpet?
im getting tired of the apartment life, i want to live in a mansion or a manor or a castle already
Not long ago you were crowing about how good it is to be on the top floor.
Did they add another floor?
You wouldn't be lying to us?

No, I'm making this post retrospectively. Just thinking about to all the banging I heard previously and how quiet I am with my carpet. The neighbour below me must love me.
I actually agree, if you're renting then you probably don't want to move into somewhere that has carpet that's 10 years old. Although I think landlords that do lay carpet typically change it with each new tenant to make it more attractive to the potential renter.
Assuming the previous renter was in there for a good few years of course.
