Well, russian marine seem to be in a very bad shape. I don't care much, except for the environment. If only it can return back into russia's waters before exploding.

Holy hell yeah, I would be too. Even smoke from Chernobyl reached the East Coast of the US. Not that it had much of an impact there, but yeah, that's a valid damn worry.

Kilo-class subs are small and diesel powered, armed with conventional weapons only, so at least if it does go up it won't be leaving a load of radioactive material all over the seabed

Perhaps Russia is willing to sell it to Portugal for docking fees. That is assuming Portugal is willing to let it anywhere near it's port, since Russia can not use Crimea due to the war, and it is a long ways to get to Kaliningrad.

russia should strive very hard not to cause an ecological, financial, or societal disaster worldwide for at least 5 years. let it be a challenge of some kind, and the rewards would be plentiful!

approximately 10-15% of the fuel is recoverable following an explosion, unless it's a main valve blowout in which case the emergency restraints will be overwhelmed by resonant amplification and the fuel which doesn't explode (10-15%) will slowly leak into the environment.
