Saudi Arabia to buy EA for $55bn
Saudi Arabia is close on buying EA (Electronic Arts) in a whooping $55bn deal.
Why do I say Saudi Arabia? well because it is Saudi Arabia´s Public Investment Fund with the main pay here.

The two other partners of Saudi Arabia is Silver Lake and Affinity Partners.
This is in my opinion a very sad deal and I don´t think this will benefit the gamers and it also seems rather political in nature.

This will without doubt affect the IP´s that EA already holds and start to make big changes.
What do you think about the deal?

for anyone thinking that this will unawoke EA, think again, Saudi companies were one of the largest investors in twitter back when twitter was woke central. they push for ideas outside their country that is stricktly abhored in their own.
I mean, it can't be any worse than it's been for the past 5... 10... 15... 20 years, right?

Right?
I’m more concerned about what will happen with the LGBTIQAPPP2S++ representation in their games. If they get rid of it, we should boycott them.

They could've bought one and a quarter Twitters for that!

I will say that this amount of money for this trash company is unusual.

If a business is a gold mine it will get bought by the Big 7. What this looks like is sale of toxic assets to the Saudis.

Alternative hypothesis: There is something strange going on these days with multibillion dollar deals in AI. I am not sure if this is another AI deal, or if EA has some AI vision in gaming

Right?

Just you wait.
My first prediction is that EA FC, will become subscription based within 2 years.
My secound prediction is that we will suddenly see an influx of Saudi/Arab cultural imprint in games made by them.

Not that it really matters much to me, as I don´t really play EA games.

They care about money above all else. Sociopolitical squabbles aren’t a thing on the radar unless it hurts their bottom line.
It will be interesting to see if they do end up buying ea, still i wont be buying any ea games and doubt that will change :TOIlogo:
Man, in the next "Battlefield" the Middle Eastern Coalition will kick everyone's ass. :P
man, i really hope this doesnt kill mass effect 5

Depends if you consider Quarians suddenly turning islamic as killing the franchise :P

ME5 is still in pre-production, so there is always a risk.. but lets be honest.. What are the chance, that a ME5 would actually turn out a game good? Look at everything else they have pushed out in the last 5 years..

Nothing is worth it, basically they are trying to chase mainstream audience and audiences that on paper would be a snatch, but don´t even exist.. (no I am not talking about weird society trends or politics here)

I mean... we don´t need Saudi Arabia for that.

I don't plan on buying EA games, and I don't believe I have any other than watchdogs which I can't even run, so no loss to me
I honestly don't know if this will make the company better or worse.
