Feels so dead
Companies now want to take less risks due to the rising development cost and audiences only want the same thing repeated forever. Bf6 is the proof that they want to recoup the fans when same fans properly will get bored of that within a week. It is the same boring fanservice of bf3/4 era

AAA has been in a creative death spiral for years.

There are plenty of small companies and solo devs that make more diverse games.
And franchises are meant to keep core elements.
Taking risks is dangerous.
What if pays off and the game is a huge success? How will a publisher ever recover from that!?

In a system where your reward is paid upfront, it doesn't matter how long it takes the players to get bored. In fact, it's preferable for them to get bored real fast so there is demand for a new game. The only thing that matters is that you keep them entertained enough to string them along to the next title, preferably A.S.A.P.

Still though, regarding risk, companies need to stop funneling all of their funds into singular games and diversify their catalogues rather than pouring hundreds of billions into a single game.

Tell that to the suits that fear of fan backlash

people have been sick of remasters/remakes craze in last few years yet nothing happens
I was just thinking about this with games like Silent Hill. The old games used to get people discussing deep topics and coming up with wild theories and stuff. Now if you get too deep with it people get angry. Well, people get angry over every little thing anymore.
Indie games are where it's at.

Companies adapting to the market's current demands is a W in my book
EA is going to be bought by the Saudi's so now your games are going to be funded with blood money. this hobby is beyond saving.
