People are unable to read high effort long forum posts anymore
This isn't just limited to these forums, and hell it applies to social media as a whole. People generating droning AI slop has finally now given excuses for people who don't want to read.

Someone could lay out their position on something thoughtfully, spellcheck it, use good formatting, and someone will call it "ChatGPT generated" because it's over 500 words, 3 paragraphs, uses proper formatting, and doesn't read like it was written by a 12 year old.

Making thoughtful and insightful posts is often no longer useful because it has given people an excuse not to read them, and instead engage with low effort slop.

this is a genuine issue with current young peoples, aye. my parents were a lot of terrible things, but they worked hard to make sure i enjoyed reading from a young age so i do not really suffer this.

Some things just aren't worth thinking about, so I don't
Depends on the perception of the poster by the reader.
If they like you, they'll read regardless of the size.
If they don't, they'd even skip your one-liners.

Also, engagement doesn't automatically make something more appealing. Remember, flies sit on both a piece of ♥♥♥♥ and a piece of cake. Have your own judgement, and let the flies do it's fly things. 😉

Have a look for yourself at the type of threads that get traction in this very forum. Most of them evoke negative emotions. That's our human nature, for you.

I´m sure this doesn´t only affect young people.

And the alternative is to call it text wall, or glibberish, or word salad, etc...

Also any post is only an offer, one can´t expect that anyone reads it.

I'm gonna need you to summarize that.
Some things really are too verbose. And actually I think AI is making it more difficult even for good writers to upkeep composition standards.

But make no mistake, some of this shift is laziness...some of it is calculation. It is very advantageous for certain interests.

definitely not only young folk. it is more i guess that it is DISTURBING to see in young folk, because they will be the leaders, the inventors and thinkers of the next generation. so it is important they enjoy reading, enjoy learning and such.

Especially the posts attempting to justify immoral or antisocial behavior.
I blame that on modern tech and society trends, not so much people.

Pretty much this.

I have the choice between putting my attention on a conference on particle physics or on another rant thread on OT ... What will I choose to spend time and efforts on ? Hum ... Hard choice isn't it ?

Not really.

The problem has be linked to higher illiteracy and lack of comprehension.

They only look at words that they can associate with their limited understanding.

Well people also like writing nothingburger walls of text

If only I had more time, I could have used less words
