Help me with strategy games similar like civilization
I like playing games such as Ara: History Untold, Endless Legend 2, Civilization, and Humankind, but I am struggling to understand how to play these types of games. Could you please recommend an easier game to start with for someone who finds reading and following instructions difficult due to illness?

All of those games have tutorials built in.
1. Build a resource collector
2. Send it to gather resources
3. Collect enough resources and you can do the next thing

Please could you recommend an easy game to understand for a beginner?
Trial and error.

Civ games are the easy entry

Hard to recommend cause obviously I don't know what you find appealing in these games. If it's the hex grid I'd recommend Age of Wonders 2 if you don't mind old 2d graphics. It's lighter on diplomacy, doesn't require you to amass and control huge armies (you always can but you can play with one/two armies and win on easy/normal settings) and it doesn't have a lot of the mechanics brought in later installments of the series. But it features all the production/science basic concepts from Civilization while you can focus on leveling up your army and not keeping up with the whole "make dozens of units, move them around and keep them upgraded" thing.

If the hex-part is not really important, maybe try something like Distant Worlds: Universe. It has auto-management turned ON on a lot of systems by default, so you don't have to make a lot of decisions at first and you can gradually involve with more complex system. Although the game is a bit more complex than Civilization.

Also-also might try Paradox games like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, they are a bit more complex again but they seem to have a more relaxed early game where you can do what you want (you'll probably fail, but the failure comes [from my experience] a bit later than in most other strategy games).

It's like a chess game. You need to strategy.

I play RTS games like Starcraft and Dawn of War but the same concept applies but at a faster pace. You need to manage stuff and some factions have their strengths and weakness. You won't become a pro overnight but if you keep playing you'll find what works best for you. Good luck.

For game recommendations if you like games like CIV then I also recommend Europa Universalis IV. There are a lot of DLC for that game but if you want something similar without the DLC and a slightly faster pace then I would play Hearts of Iron IV.

Maybe start with the first Sim City(if you can find it). There's no battles there, only construction and government concepts.
If you go civ you'll have to do all of that plus try not to be overrun by the computer opponent doing the same thing. Additionally if you plan it right you can ally with them and win that way.

I already own those two games, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron I find it super hard to understand what I'm supposed to do
I found it easier to put settings to max, mod it into more complexity and make make the game as epic as possible.

This way, one takes ownership and clearly knows what is what.

Trial and error.

Accept that failure can be part of the fun, eventually you will learn from the trial and error.

Dig down into the mechanics. After yiu learn the basics, you know most games in the same vein

absolutely. You're right.
You could try the free and open source game "Unciv"
It's CIV with a simpler style and less rules/ features.
Could help you get a leg up on understanding CIV.

For me it was just playing the game a bunch.

Have you tried something combat-focused like Battle for Wesnoth, Panzer General, Fantasy General? Games where you don't have to build/research anything and just focus on not losing your army and destroying the enemy.

There's also a Sins of the Solar Empire game which is an RTS much like Warcraft 3 but it has a taste of a more global space 4x strategy

You have to find a cost effective way to strike the weakpoint of your adversary with your own strenghs. It's the basis of any form of combat, striking the soft spots of your adversary with your hard ones. Cavalry is especially usefull for that, flanking with it can be devastating if done correctly.

I have never heard of any of the games you have mentioned, but I will check them out.
