Yamaha area good place to begin. Get a budget when I started the Yamaha Pacifica was THE one to get it is an electric and you can play without amp too. Good for getting your fingers and muscles working.
I have not bought one the shop was always out of stock.
If you want an acoustic I would ask on forums like Justin Guitar - his beginner course is a good place to start the songs are good to train on while you develop the skills you want.
Like any instrument it is good to learn and practice consistently at first even 10 to 20 minutes a day will be good to build up your coordination, strength and muscle memory.
Everybody finds it difficult at first and not progress as fast as they would like, but you get it and it is something you develop and refine which is what I love about it.
Other than Justin Sandercoe, Steve Stine * on youtube is good to watch - actually not watched him in ages so may get back to him.
From beginner to advance he has a good way of presenting how to do cool stuff on it, first week I felt woah I can solo!
His is more metal rock style.
-and dont fall into the trap of always looking for another 'perfect' guitar because then you will buy and spend stupid amounts for guitars you wont use.
* sorry got his name wrong i was recently watching Vampire Rock and got names mixed.

With bit of practice you can lift bits out of his videos and give it a go.

I bought his beginner course of books and worth every penny. Still have them and still play out of them.

Although, I dip into many hobbies on and off.
I also think cars and guitars are cool, but not really a main hobby just something I sometimes dabble in.
I enjoy gardening and taking care of plants and my lawn
Also I do welding and smithing projects as a hobby
