Should people with private profiles lose their posting rights?
They are cowards who can't handle people posting negative things on your profile.

either we are all going to lose the right to post and be replaced by bots, or things have to change.
You don't even need to make your profile private to prevent people from commenting on it.

Anyway, I don't think that would do much, so nah. And if someone really wanted they could always create a public alt account specifically for the purposes of posting on the forum. Personally what I really think they should do is prevent limited accounts (accounts that haven't spent at least 5 dollars) from posting anywhere besides New To Steam and Help & Tips.
Only if the requirements for posting is that youve spent at least $59.99 on video games, have a minimum of 40 hours invested, and a minimum of 10 hours gaming weekly.
There's an option for friends only comments while having a public profile. On top of that you can delete comments on your profile. Did you think your argument through?

What difference would it make? A public one can already turn off comments, like mine has done. A user can also delete any comments they don't like.

I think a better idea would be to increase the money requirement to post, as 5$ clearly isn't cutting it. Let's bump this up to 50$ and see if that helps.

Sure you can delete comments, but you still have to see them. Others might not know but you will

Counterpoint: No money?
depends on the type of private account
some of my accounts are private but some are unprivated, for a good while all were off private but when my main got raided I had to private it cause I don't feel like losing my account due to people just disliking me
I actually don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about mean comments people are free to leave them I even encourage it and I don't actually delete anything unless it's spam advertising or dangerous links uwu

they'd have to moderate the forums instead of just banning people at random and due to crowd whimsy.

this policy has all the markers of crowd whimsy.

With such a good reason, I don't see anyone could disagree here. Of course this should be done, let's push for positive change!

Might as well convert steam to a subscription model instead with that suggestion.

You telling me you’re too poor to get $60 together for games? 10 hours a week is also pretty damn low. 2 hours a day covers that easy, or one day off

gaming isn't a job. say you go on vacation, should you be silenced until you get your hours up again?
