Of course the last time my breaks failed, I was on a highway, so I just drove another half an hour to my brothers and replaced the brake calipers.
You could also drop your transmission down a gear, which might damage the transmission, but still better than slamming into another car.
The three times were actually not because the break would fail, but ice on the street. Feels bad when You drive / slide downhill and then the red traffic light comes near, but given that few people would drive in these conditions i rated the chances as high that nobody would cross, so i didn´t bother.
Another time i used the curb at one side, to slide downwards, and to actually brake with it - but that´s not very good for the tires either...
And when i wanted to stop in front of a closed gate i would use the emergency brake, the normal brake and try to get my car sideways to the street, so the tires couldn´t roll in that direction, while i would slide that way... And it stopped like 5cm in front of it.
Else if it´s about the actual brakes one could also shift down, and use the engine brake, which doesn´t need to be good for the engine. But ultimately this is why a car has at least two brakes. Of course sad when the emergency brake - breaks because it´s rarely or never used.
E-brake.
Shut off the engine.
Curb it/rail it.
Hit the EMERGENCY BRAKES with my HORN BLARING?
i feel like this is a Trap Question.....
First off, what direction and what speed?
what do i do when my brakes fail in a vehicle? HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE!
Stay cool in all situations, and coast my beast to bear.
Are you on(insert different type ground floor)?
Are you in(insert different type weather)?
First and foremost, never, NEVER, give gas(power) to the engine.
The wheels are built for traction, thus they need NO support to 'cling' to the ground they glide upon.
Regardless.
You feel a slipping? Let go and figure it out. You will feel it. :)
