Candy Corn
So I'm playing Costume Quest and if you've played the games, you'll know Candy Corn is something of a recurring theme..

.. As a British, I've never actually tried it. I think I can kind of imagine: sort of like a hard candy version of Dr Pepper. I could be way off though.

So it seems controversial. What's it actually like?! :D:

It's basically just hardened corn syrup with food dye

it comes from the age of "chalk candy" along with conversation hearts I imagine... though it might just be a lot of corn starch these days.

Sort of like cake icing?

similar time period I believe, but the texture's totally different from those dry 'chalk' candies

the ingredient list literally is like sucrose, corn syrup, salt, maybe another food oil or two, dye

IIRC it's supposed to mimic chicken feed, and for the life of me I'm not sure why someone thought that was a fun and not a werid idea for a kids' candy lol

then again, 'twas also the era of the candy cigarette

that's not too far off, if you've ever had cake in the fridge long enough for the icing to harden that'd have a similar texture (but candy corn is less sweet and more 'oily' in flavor)

No, candy corn is almost like eating super sweet wax. Candy corn is the worst candy in the universe right next to the packing foam candy peanuts.

Ugh
Ah yeah I think I can imagine now.. :PriscilaSalamanderPoint:

I remember candy cigarettes... and liqourice cigars/pipes :P

but did you mean the candy "popeye stick" type ones or the ones that actually looked like a pack of cigarettes that were a stick of chocolate wrapped in paper?

Eh, both I suppose. Any children's candy that mimics an addictive carcinogen is a bit off, innit?

Those licorice pipes were kinda dope though
never tried it, i dont think any stores sell it here. but i have seen it in horror films and media. the idea of candied corn does not sound very good though
It's disgusting and tastes too sweet

"Yellow 6, yellow 5, and red 3 dyes are also added to help give the candy its distinctive yellow and orange coloring."

ah, well that would be why it is not sold in my country. food dyes are banned
I would rather eat regular corn, and that's more healthier.
Candy Corn, imagine wax and sugar mixed together, and there you are. It is not bad, but I wouldn't call it good either.
Waxy Chalky sweet, coated with beetle resin to make it shiny
