The contractor (BlackRock) running it is paid by Federal Agencies putting 1% into the fund just to pay the contractor to manage the funds.
Without the Federal Agencies paying that 1%, the contractor starts subtracting from their retirement funds to pay itself to manage the funds.
All their retirement funds start dropping.
It looks like those payments are still coming in, so...

I did have an increase in water and sewer this year, but it was announced well before the shutdown.
Fortunately, I live out-of-town, so I don't pay local taxes. Just state and Federal. (Well, no, I do pay property taxes to the county. But those have been going up every year for the past five years.)
I can see local governments increasing taxes though.
