We need to do something about our useless representatives refusing to do their jobs.
They should not be allowed to leave for the weekend (a long weekend, I might add) and continue to receive their fat paychecks while there is a government shutdown. Regular employees aren't being paid and programs aren't receiving their necessary funding. This has nothing to do with which side of the aisle you're on. They should be required to be there every single day from 9am to 5pm until they can reach an agreement to reopen the government. They make more than most of the country's people while working less than almost every other career out there and they STILL can't do their jobs when they're expected to. This is ridiculous and they need to be held accountable for their uselessness and the damage that they do to this country and the people living in it.

I recommend leasing guillotines from France.
This particular crowd can sleep easy because they wanted the government to be shut down. They voted for this.
It makes us look week and conquerable.
It has crossed people's minds that they shouldn't be required in order to pass a bill if they continue to not show up for work. Once government gets back in business they can all be fired.

So you want a one party system?

Looks like there should've been negotiating and not just trying to fast track things through.
The sticking point is the republicans say absolutely no benefits to illegals(we're just not having it) and the left is saying whataboutisms trying hard to find a way for illegals to benefit.

Except illegals don't benefit from US healthcare, except only in emergency medical situations.

The whole "healthcare for illegals" is a right wing talking point to discredit the left.

This shutdown is entirely on the Republicans failure to Govern

Except thats the entire issue.
No benefits means exactly that.
The left should perhaps take a different strategy until the government is running again.
Illegals should avoid injuring themselves until they've safely deported themselves ASAP.

Providing emergency medical care to non-citizens is what a humane society does. Telling people to just "not get injured until they leave" is the same logic as removing all healthcare systems, programs and the like and just telling people to "not get sick, ever".

It's disgusting and people should be standing up to Republican lack of humanity.

Its far easier telling them to not be here in the first place. Something Biden did the opposite of and thats why we have this issue today.

From what I recall reading, a large portion of "illegals" in the US are actually people who came to the country legally and overstayed their Visas. I often wonder how many of those people simply get caught up in the system, trying to get new Visas, or something different that allows them to stay in the country legally, especially if they've been able to move themselves into it and integrate in the society.

But again, none of this matters when it comes to what the Dems are asking for, which is the simple matter of providing emergency healthcare to everyone in the country, whether they're a citizen or not. Trying to deflect or deny this shows a total lack of humanity from anyone attempting to do so.

There is more than one way to deal with the situation of having "illegals" in your country than just rounding them up and deporting them all, especially without due process.

I see the subtle twist you used in that middle paragraph... we will still gladly assist any citizen or not if they're legal. Thanks for playing.

How can you assist them with medical emergencies when you won't even vote to fund the bill that allows that to happen?

As usual, it's just a lack of humanity.

And I bet the same people pushing for this would demand healthcare as a human right if they were in another country illegally.

Their invasion of this country to get free benefits indicates a lack of humanity.
We no longer play this game.
Get 'em out.

What benefits do they get, exactly?

They don't get social security, they can't get medicare/medicaid and any jobs they're given by companies are against the law.

So what are these benefits?
