unpopular hot possibly ragebait opinion, but please, listen.
dont ever trust a player with less then 30 hours or more then 1000, the first plays on youtube shorts, the other left the game open for 5000 hours playing 300 at best, do yourself a favor, expecially if you are not a kid, dont discuss on steam, almost nothing intelligent or productive will come out exept for hate and memes. THERE ARE EXEPTIONS, there might be the cool guy that works and play like a beast, helpful and fun, but dont count on that.

please, have a normal conversation with me and whoever answer.
That’s actually a pretty solid take bro
How many hours have you played life? Did you leave it on for a few years while you did absolutely nothing or did you play it on youtube? Should I listen to you? Everyone's a self-proclaimed guru these days. :summercat2023:
I don't invent reasons to disregard opinions. The opinions themselves do that for me.

True, lots of people farm hours for some reason
i have over 9k hours in dead by daylight, ama
18,235 hours on Civ 5. All of it legit.
Okay, the more than 1000 I can sort of understand, but there's a lot of games that do not last 30 hours.
hours are not a great indicator of personality.

they *may* point in a general directiom but cant be used to guage 100pc certainty.

People are infinitely more compkex than just one statistic.

I use to play a game a long time ago and there was a player trying to get 100k hours in the game. He left it on 24/7. When I left the game I think he had something like 38k hours. Like a decade or so later I logged into the game and he had something like 80k. I recently checked the game a year ago he was gone and I guess got 100k. Weird to think that game is still online and over 25 years old.
More then 7K hours in War Thunder and none of it idle. Trying to squeeze everybody into same sized box is generally not a good idea.

I love Civilization, but I never really understood how to play it, lol

Never trust player reviews at all tbh. Players are idiots. They hate everything for the pettiest reasons, and don't even know how to tell you, so they just repeat that it sucks a thousand times. Or they loved it but they just make a stupid joke as the entirety of their review, which everyone thumbs ups because they think it's funny. There is zero information in the overwhelming majority of player reviews.

If you're on the fence, you can try a journalist review, but only if you're on the fence and want to find specific info. These people will downplay the downsides, so if they say (for example) "it gets a little grindy", you know that means you will spend your life grinding. But they at least know how to explain what they did or didn't like and why it matters.

But the only way to make sure you get games you will like is to know what you like. It's not rocket science. If the game looks interesting, and you can pinpoint specific reasons why, give it a try.

I clearly said there are exeptions.
