Can you recommend a browser?
I feel like my time as a Firefox user has come nigh and I would like some suggestions on better options.

Ideally I'd like the browser to support some sort of cloud sync since I use many different PCs.

Waterfox is a good Firefox-based Firefox alternative.

Vivaldi and Brave are nice, but I don't really like chromium browsers and the former is partially closed source. Don't fall for the Opera GX meme etc., it's a bag of ♥♥♥♥

what do you have against firefox? it still is the best browser...

true it has dropped updates for windows 7 in september 2025.. so if you use windows 7.. it will start to keep being unsafe without extra layers of security..

but I know of no other browser that still supported windows 7 as long as firefox did and it still works fine on windows 7.. it does not suddenly not work anymore it just get updated no more.

It's sliding more and more into the realm of AI integration and I'm not interested in the performance penalty that will incur for something I just need to open web pages.

still the best windows ever. 8, 10 and 11 : avoid like the plague
it is 7 or linux nothing else is an option.
and linux still has worse performance in games.. and is more hassle to get them to run in the first place.. so as long as windows 7 keeps doing the job.. and you have a geforce 3000 series or older (upto 2x3090ti in sli) and an ryzen 5000 serries or lower (upto the 5800x3d) and 128GB ram or less you can still have all the drivers for win 7...

so only when you want hardware newer than that... do you HAVE to move to linux.. for everybody else : win 7 is the way.

and if it is performance you want.. 3090ti is better than 4070TI (the 4070TiS is slighly better)
and similairly better than 5070 (the 5070TI is slighly better better)

so unless you run a 4080, 4090, 5080, 5090.. you be better of getting a 2000 or 3000 series gpu.. so you still can run win 7.
Opera is reasonable.
Duckduckgo browser it fires up a little longer though.

If you don't mind chromium based browsers, Brave is great for what you would use it for @OP.

I'd probably prefer a Firefox fork. I don't think the Chromium platform offers any real incentive for me to switch to that, it's more about the direction Mozilla themselves are going in that's persuading me to reconsider using Firefox specifically.

Ok I agree, if you run a museum era setup you could go with windows 7

Brave browser and spend 30 seconds to set it up with no reward button. People hate the optional stuff you can instantly turn off
