Simple Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
2 pre-made pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
4-5 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (to thicken the filling)
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Sugar (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Mix well.
Assemble Pie: Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the apple filling into the crust.
Top Crust: Cover with the second pie crust. Trim excess dough and pinch edges to seal. Cut small slits on top for steam.
Egg Wash: Brush the top crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with a little sugar.
Bake: Place pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool: Let cool slightly before serving.
