What did you respond with when they spoke to you?
It ran like a program oddly enough like the AI chat bots today.
I'd store all the information in a certain way that it would just come out with the right prompt.
I could be genuinely sociable too but often it was auto pilot for such things.
Have you ever done that to a girl?
Sometimes i would say that i´m not in the mood to talk.
If i feel like it i would just turn it into deep talk, or give overly long answers, so they wouldn´t bother to say anything any more. "How are You doing?" "Oh - today? It´s a long story, but let me start with how it began last week so You understand it better..." Once i would do an experiment and just not stop talking when someone talked to me in a pub. The person ran away after a while. But i began with that i vowed a vow to not talk for three years and now i have to let it all out, and that i´m glad that he opened a conversation... I had bet with a friend about how to stop people from talking to You, without saying that You don´t want to talk with them - ever... Another bet was about that one would need to get a free drink of someone, after provoking them, to the point that they would try to beat You up, and them calm them down, to settle this with a drink, because they would understand that they overreacted. I´m not so bad with people i guess, but he chose an easy person. The biggest guy in the room, bald, wearing a bomber jacket and these combat boots. So a "far right" person. Like they´re easy to provoke if You tell them how ungerman and cowardly they are - and easy to calm down if You make clear that You only wanted to test them because "we´re on the same side".
Else i´m lucky to live in a country which isn´t too much about small talk. Small talk here looks like "Hi." "Hello." - and if someone starts about talking about the weather it might be meant ironic - except it´s older people. Which is in the part i live now - where i grew up the people are much more talk active, but probably also not much into small talk.
"How are you?"
"My son died yesterday."
