I once played with someone who rolled a Barbarian with use magic item through the roof, who I think literally once used his greatsword. The rest of the time he was melting people with wizard spells from items.

The character RP was basically that he wanted to prove to his tribe of fellow knuckle-draggers how he was "big great shaman" or something.

He eventually killed himself and the campaign's big bad with the same wand of empowered fireball, and we all just figured he ascended to some kind of barbarian godhood.

It was hilarious, and an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blast.
