Curious Question
For those who believe online moderation is always fair and justified, do you put your full trust in the criminal justice system?
Because if police and courts can be biased, negligent, or abuse their power, what makes you think an online moderator is immune to the same?
especially if you add in the factor of the moderator being AI?
Or is your logic still that because you've never been arrested it means the system is working as intended? uwu

I don’t have a degree in law but there something’s that are moral but isn’t legal. On the other hand there are things that are legal but isn’t moral.

As for the moderation, it’s not perfect and it’s always best to challenge them in case you do sit on time out.

no, i obey the law obsessively so as to make myself a victim should legal issues arise.

if the courts abuse my victimhood i abuse their prisoners, their guards, their police, everyone jn the court room, and all of their descendants.

if someone walks by the grounds and yells ♥♥♥♥ at me somehow i flick a shiv out the window at them, assuming i am even in jail for this to happen.

No one says online moderation is fair.

Unlike the justice system it is about house rules, while the justice system is based on law.

And even law can be unfair, it depends on those who made them.

Like e.g. if you murder someone to save - let us say - a hundred babies - it is still murder. Whether it is fair or not is subjective.

Content moderation is a necessary evil, as otherwise the entire internet would be 4chan.

you mean the tf2 forums?
We know full well that the CJS is hugely flawed but also broadly speaking works/functions.

If arrested, never speak to police without seeing a lawyer first.

As to moderation here, its also flawed.

it lacks nuance and context and desperately needs improvement, imho.

ymmv

Both are flawed and need an overhaul, still both are better than no regulation at all.

Good moderation, I like it. It's balanced between strictness and fairness.

dude you're always banned
The criminal justice system, though flawed, is infinitely better than a military tribunal, Bun. That's the other part of that Charlie Kirk quote about Nuremberg trials for doctors. He wanted military rule in the country. The end of civilian life. Essentially conscripting everyone into the army by virtue of martial law.

sorry I dont think I can fully understand what the topic is about,

oh, op has been banned again? maybe I should try to appeal towards this wounded person ,instead of talking about some order and balance up in the cloud that I never believe in.

honestly I dont understand their rule for speech on this platform, and to say that I trust in them?

I cant go deeper on this topic even if I want to.

but what I understand from the legal system ,criminal are put in it to get processed after they have done something,

I hear someone talking about how Mr Kirk supports guns, and was sadly taken from us by guns. is this the same thing with legal system and speech control?

Considering how some former moderators don't bother to hide their strong political biases (whether you align with it or not), well...
As for current moderation I just think it's a automated system rn, Steam support never gave me a clear answer when I asked them, only the same copy pasted generic text.
