Why are yawns contagious?
I just caught a yawn off watching Big Mac the alligator yawning.

Our last common ancestor was 312 million years ago. Is this the only thing all land animals have in common?

Imagine seeing someone

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawnn

You can only do that when you are relaxed. If someone does that who is a possible threat to you, you instantly think subconciously they are relaxed and will not attack you. So the best way to response is the same.

Apparently Pythons, Whiptail Lizards and Komodo Dragons don't need to have...

Several animals don't drink.

And a thing called an Olm can go ten years without eating.

But I bet it yawns.

How does anyone know this?

Perhaps they only yawn when no one is looking...
