Liberalism was bona fide counter culture in the early 2000s. We loved sticking it to those neocons and warmongers.

Up until Occupy Wallstreet I found liberalism to be very agreeable. It was around the time of Obama's reelection and the rise of wokeism that things started going south.

Liberals and the liberal movement are so unsympathetic now and it's sad.

Liberalism has never been cool. Liberal politicians usually represent 80% interests of comapnies and 20% of the people, some leaning towards Neoliberalism which is 100% companies and 0% people.
