Why are NTFs good for gamers??
To me, the idea of a unique ingame item that only you can wear, and port to other games seems like a stumble down a stairs to the idea of "our company is going to make the next cod or halo game, but only give out one Key and only that player will get to play it. And then they can sell it to someone else if they want and we'll get a cut." Its like they looked at the idea of FOMO and scarcity and are now trying to weaponize it.
Maybe a more enlightened person could give me an actual reason as to why these are good..

Agree NFTs should not be in video games I hope to god Sega doesn’t join the trend since if they did no one will preorder Sonic frontiers

Grifters/scammers will always tell you something is good for you, but it's only good for you if you give them as much money as possible for the thing they claim is for your own good.

"Help me help you by making me rich selling you stuff that is entirely useless" would be too honest.

The gamers I see could see this benefiting are the people that like to rub it in the faces of others that they have said "item" and even then it doesn't matter because not everyone puts a high value on a digital item that they can't even hold.

Like limited edition collectors items I can understand, you get a neat trophy and artbooks and stickers and a neat steel case.

But a digital item that you can port to other games (This is impossible. Hell the console wars are still happening. I can only see sony players seeing other sony players saying "omg you have an xbox item?! You're X for playing xbox games and bringing them other to our sony games") Its a bit far fetched but some person out there will take that angle.

And ontop of that, NTFs from what I've seen.. I find subjectively ugly. "woo a ghost recon mask".. like I don't like nor do I feel like playing 500 hours of a game just to earn said ugly mask just to stand around and say "look guys, I have the thing!"

Plus NTFs, as an economical item are a dumb investment. Someone could get a "highly coveted" set of shoes and then just uninstall their game as a middle finger to anyone else wanting said set of sandals only to now never get them.

I get value out of in game items I've earned in a game.. Like If I see an armor piece I want, and I have to play say.. Halo LASO and assasinate a specific alien in each level under a certain time frame to get it. I'd find more value in that because I over came the challenge and earned it. Anyone else who has it, I can look at them and see that they to went through the same thing I did. Everyone has a chance to earn it based on their skill. Not their wallet.

Like to me it just screams.. EA, its in your wallet.

They are "good" for gamers is the same way that cigarettes are "good" for your health. That's it, they're only good for the guy selling them to you.

Stick with stock markets and gambling, it's quicker and cheaper, and you can enjoy your favourite video games, and roulette tables in peace.

They aren't. They haven't proved thus far to be good for anybody or anything. That's the point.

As it stands, the guy who created the NFT bay demonstrated that most thus far are either outright scams, stolen assets, or simply you buying nothing of any merit.

Many NFTs are simply you buying a link to a website. YOu don't buy the website, you don't buy the image, you don't buy the rights either. So whoever owns the website can just stop paying thebills and you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

But even in Ubisosft'as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world, they want to offer a USE for NFTs by having them as in game items that can be used across games. Cool, so that's the Steam, Marketplace then.

That IS a use, but there's no need for the magical blockchain (which I don't understna dhwy people think this is something that elevates everything because it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesn't), nor any other buzzword.

You needa record (ledger) anmd servers torage and that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it> We've been doing that for deacdes thus far.

They aren't. They are just bad, plain and simple. And even most developers think so.
