Trying to find an old early 2000s game

When I was a kid my dad had this game it was a FPS where you basically walk up to this fortress or base camp and I remember a sniper shoots someone in front of you. Then you have to run away fast bear in mind this was back in like 2000 or 2001 a long time ago, does anyone know or have a rough idea of what this game is? me and my dad have been trying to find it for years but never have lol.

Nah its not Rage that game is awesome and class especially for 2011 but nope its not RAGE

try to add any details about the level or textures, or weapons used. there's someone that will know what you're saying.

locale? language? what did the UI look like?

Fair enough, trying hard here it had to be in english, there was this dude he was polite he meets you on a beach, then says follow me, so you folllow up to the camp and a sniper shoots him. and you must run away.
