Favorite horror films? Particularly less know ones?
Hello Steam, I was just wondering what everyone's favorite horror films are if you are into those kinds of movies. I'm a big horror buff and have been looking for some new good watches. So, what are your guys favorite horror films? Hopefully I haven't seen much of the suggestions because I am running out of films to watch on Shudder.

I couldn't even beginning to list all that I've seen but a few of my favorites are:

The Thing (1982)
Hereditary (2018)
Alien (1979)
Funny Games (1997)
Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht (1979)
Suspiria (both versions)
28 Days Later (2002)
30 Days of Night (2007)
Evil Dead series

House ( 1,2,3, ) ( o.k. maybe horror/comedy )

Videodrome ( o.k. maybe more sci-fi then horror )

Trick 'r Treat
Piranha
Maniac Cop
C.H.U.D.
Dead Alive
Zombie
Carnival of Souls

... and literately thousands more...

For Favorite:

House on Haunted Hill
Alien ( 1 & 2 only )
Night of the Living Dead
The Shining

Alien

The Descent (you MUST watch this film in 5.1 - not only does it make the film better but it's one of the BEST surround films ever made)

Psycho

The Ring (somewhat)

The Thing

Night of the Living Dead

Lat den ratte komme in (not really much of a horror film, just a cool film)

28 Days Later (because Danny Boyle, and by extension, Shallow Grave)

The Blair Witch Project (I still like what it did regardless of what some might think)

30 Days of Night (cheesy but still quite neat in many places)
Couldn't say that's my favorites but some not so well known ones worth to watch...
- Thanatomorphose
- Seul contre tous
- Grotesque
- Chained
- Feed

Ummm.. those are "less known"?... by who?

Two ( possibly four ) are even the best known and always are on "top__ horror movies of all time" lists...

Anyway...

Bad Taste ( o.k. maybe horror/comedy )
Basket Case ( 1,2,3 )
House ( 1,2,3, ) ( o.k. maybe horror/comedy )
Puppet Master ( 1,2,3 )
Videodrome ( o.k. maybe more sci-fi then horror )

Trick 'r Treat
Piranha
Maniac Cop
C.H.U.D.
Dead Alive
Zombie
Carnival of Souls

... and literately thousands more...

I said I prefer the *suggestions* to be less known, because I have seen most of the mainstream horror films, not that those are lesser known horror films. Those are just some of my favorites to break down what kind of horror films I might be into. Thank you for the suggestions though!

I was going to add it, but then I realised I'd have to add a ton of the horror films I watched when I was a teen.

It's defo a greatly unqiue film. Well overlooked.

I do love the more esoteric type of horror.

The ones with Christopher Lee in villain roles.

Some of those that Udo Kier starred in.
The Cable Guy is one of the most surprisingly creepy movies I've seen. Other than that the only "horror" movies I've watched and enjoyed are Jaws 1 and Jaws 2.
