Not sure the exact steps since I’m not on my computer but basically, you right click a game, click on properties. From there, you’ll find a option to disable the steam overlay.

But I want to use the Steam overlay, but I don't want OBS to capture it.

But I want to use the Steam overlay, but I don't want OBS to capture it.
Then edit the footage.

Use Game capture (instead of screen capture) and select the game window manually.

How do I edit the steam overlay out of it. You're literally making no sense to me.

I meant edit the footage so it doesn’t show the part from you opening the steam overlay.

It’s not that hard to understand.

But I don't want to edit out the footage where I'm doing it. I want to keep the footage without editing it. :/

Then might as well keep it. I’m not sure why you want to hide it but use it at the same time.

Because I've got alot of friends, I don't like people seeing my chat, and because of all of my friends, I'll get notifications because people will start playing games and stuff.

Well if you’re recording, then tell your friends not to bother you.
