i run like at least a mile a day now i've always been addicted to it. You get to an age though where it starts becoming more harmful then helpful. Treadmill could be the way to go for some or elliptical.
I guess I could recommend doing push up's, pull up's, sit ups, and maybe learn some stretches.

Having a treadmill and weights at home is great, you can simply work out on any muscle group the way you want without gym idiots bothering you. Gyms do offer more exercise choices with various machines though (and their treadmills are higher end).
quote
The idea is simple, you don't follow a set repeated pattern, rather a cycle of exercises. Each day targetting just one or two muscle groups. The next day resting them, while working out a different group or taking a break. You will find this works, due to the fact that it's during the resting period muscles actually develop and also that if you repeat the same old exercises each time, the muscles will learn and just develop to that peaking at a point. By changing the pattern every two weeks and having different exercises daily, the muscles keep guessing and therefore keep developing too. It's also pushing the muscles to a limited, most stop at that point, but by going slightly pass it, they need to develop more to cope. They should actually feel a bit sore and tired the following day, that's normal.
After that it's just a matter of matching your diet and sleep patterns. Eat way more protein and fiber, reduce sugar and replace most drinks with water (have water each meal). Get your sleep into a pattern, having a set sleeping time and wake up time, so the body understands when to feel tired and the sleep cycle kicks in a deeper sleep. All this helps burn fat and develop muscles much faster.
Completely confused what to eat, etc? Get a fitness band that monitors it, such as a Samsung Gear Fit or S3, Jawbone UP or Fitbit, etc. Use UnderArmour software with Record + MyFitnesspal to also keep track on your smart phone synced with it. Set a balance of Nutrition <> Exercise <> Sleep. Get those right and you will excel. You want to eat more, well exercise more to burn it off, etc. Get up every 50 minutes from sitting positions and move about more. Even walking the dog daily helps a lot, etc.
uh...
yeah that's really it...
