Download speed drop
Hi everyone, I have a problem with downloading from Steam. I’m downloading an update for Rust — at first, half of it downloads at about 90 MB/s (my usual speed), but then it drops to below 1 MB/s. I decided to check the disk for errors, but there weren’t any. I also checked the other drives, tested downloading from the internet, and then tested downloading from Steam to all disks. I chose Coloring Pixels (the smallest game in my library) and came to the conclusion that the problem is most likely with Steam itself, since I repeated all the same steps on another laptop as well.
tested SSD: Kingston NV2 1tb, Kingston KC3000 1tb

I did a little investigation, and it seems that the download region is overloaded (I had it set to Kharkiv – Ukraine). I changed it to Stockholm – Sweden, and the download speed went back to normal.
Maybe this is the solution
Because especially when doing an update, it has to use part of that process to move files around and repack them. It's just just a matter of doing a download. So it's completely normal.

look at steams download page, if the disk line is high, its using the drive to decompress and copy game files
Just recently it was jumping from 80 Kbps to 80 Mbps back and forth for few minutes for me. I even tested my bandwidth during that time & it was fine.
It did stabilize itself after some short time. I haven't been changing region or clearing cash, it just went back to normal speed by itself.

its the way steam downloads+installs game
it downloads compressed files that need to be dealt with before downloading more

its not like a speedtest where it downloads and dumps it
