It was when I bought it last year, I paid nearly a grand, but its come down in price over the last year, I've been watching with balled up fists.
You can pick it up for around £500 now, which I assume converts to around 550 in the US.
WOLED monitor are less bright but aren’t quite as vivid, but have deeper blacks vs QD-OLED which is more vivid but has more super dark blacks but not inky blacks but can get brighter.
It also has a purple sheen if you have direct sunlight pointing at your monitor for some reason. (I see this on Reddit? Probably a Reddit thing).
It’s really not going to be noticeable unless you have them side by side though, “going OLED” is a definitive upgrade regardless. I do own both but i’d still say it’s more a slight difference and not a “omg this is terrible” difference.
The main thing is near instant response times and no backlight bleed, and actual HDR not the dimming zones meme.
Each year panels get a bit higher brightness and less susceptible to burnin but it’s not really a big deal outside of flagship TVs to push ultra bright highlights, which isn’t relevant here. HDR isn’t mind blowing on a monitor but it’s still good to have.
I would however pick one that does auto pixel refresh, for piece of mind. That said pretty much every good monitor should have a few years warranty including burnin, so don’t worry as ling as you vary your entertainment not play the same thing every day.
Otherwise it does mostly come down to preference, all ASUS setup, specific monitor has something you want etc.
Screen coating matte v glossy can be a iq difference. Personally matte oled is a waste of contrast ratio imho.
