cpu cool
deciding between thermalright royal pretor 130 and royal knight, price i can get is royal knight £22.99 and royal pretor £39, royal knight is best for ram clearance but dont think my ram is taller enough to be an issue, royal pretor seems to be the more powerful and according to tomshardware review royal knight got 3 out of 5 and said "Poor noise-normalized performance and Does not perform as well with AMD Ryzen" where as tomshardware reviewed the royal and said 5 out of 5 and said "Strongest air-cooling performance I’ve tested yet" and cons none.is the pretor worth the extra cost?.

current potential build :
9800x3d
9070xt
64gb ram
1000w psu
msi b850 edge ti .

If these are your only two options, the winner is clearly the Thermalright Royal Pretor 130[www.thermalright.com]

The fan even looks stronger with larger/thicker blades on the Pretor 130 but here is the funny part, you can use any fan even a Noctua heatsink fan. The key is not only in the fans but also the heatsink design itself.

I know this Chinese company, Thermalright, makes fantastic heatsinks for RAM but I am unsure about their fans. They could be similar to CoolerMaster which is not that great but they can suffice.

thanks for the reply, is there anybody who has experience of both fans?

thanks for the reply so that seems to say that the peerless assassin is better than the pretor but tomshardware basically says the pretor is the best air cooler there is so not sure which one to trust, the peerless assassin i can get for £30 and the pretor is £39 so not much money in it just want to buy the best one.
Look at the tech specs, OP

Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 is still better. Personally I like the up to 80+CFM rating on both models of the 130 Pretor.

thanks for the reply, i hadn't noticed the difference in air flow.
thanks i think i have decided on the royal pretor unless something else happens, would it be worth replacing the fans or are the fans that come with it good?
just seen a comment on amazon about the royal pretor install it says "A phenomenally good cooler, with a slightly difficult fitting process" and A Good option for the competent PC Builder, this slighty worries me as i am a beginner but i have seen videos on youtube of the other thermalright cooler and they seemed ok to install.
just read the instructions for the peerless assassin and the the royal pretor and the instructions are basically the same but slightly different wording so i think i am ok about it, unless someone tells me different or says get this one instead.

they are not difficult to install
just use the correct spacers and screws for the socket type
dont overtighten, just go til they stop and snug
ok thanks
