8Bitdo controller users: Does it automatically get detected as an Xbox controller? No setup needed?
I've heard positive things about this brand. I despise having to setup 3rd party controllers though, so I preferred the actual Xbox controller. From the button layout, it seems they're the same.

However, I think I read a review somewhere that the Y and X layout are switched and need to be reconfigured which confused me because they look to be in the same positions regardless if it's the Xbox collab or other 8bitdo controllers. (maybe the user was using a Switch?)

Lastly would y'all recommend the ultimate 2 wireless (~$30 from an authorized seller) or the ultimate C wired for Xbox (~$22 same seller).

Yes, Win10/11 sees them fine as Xbox Controller type. In Win10/11 all the 8bitDo controllers are plug and play. Use the 2.4Ghz + 8bitDo USB dongle of its a Wireless controller Not BT. Use BT mode for Android devices or SMART TVs

I would also get the 8bitDo Controller Firmware Updater app and double check for a firmware update on any 8bitDo Controller when it's purchased new, to ensure the Controller is up to date first.

Most of them support both xinput and directinput, with either a combo button press or selector switch to toggle between them.

If buttons are reversed, it's probably in Nintendo Switch mode.
