Steam Deck GamePad vs External Controller
In this post, I’ll answer a question nobody asked but everyone secretly wonders this: which is better, the Steam Deck’s built-in GamePad or an external controller?

Honestly, it depends on how you use them.

The Steam Deck’s GamePad shines when it comes to portability and customization. Those four programmable buttons on the back are handy, and warranty coverage can make repairs or replacements less costly.

An external controller, on the other hand, is great for long sessions at home. Most games support it, and using one gives your Deck’s built-in controls a break, which can help extend their lifespan. Just keep in mind some games might not fully support external controllers, and a decent one will cost around $30 to $80.

Verdict;
External controllers are the better pick when you can use them. The built-in GamePad is ideal for mobility, customization, and comfort.

The thing with the Steam Deck is you still don't get access to all the games. Why would someone want a Steam made device if you cant play the games you want to play?

I mean, i'm not a "handheld" person anyway, but even to port it to your tv with a controller, many games i play are not supported by Steam Deck.

Hopefully Mr Newell rectifies that issues if his rumors of a Steam Console are true. If Xbox has Win 11, and you can just get Steam thru that, that may be the better option (if you cannot afford or do not want a gaming pc).
