Random CTD when playing games?
So booted up some games like sleeping dogs and assassins creed shadows playing at 165fps and it randomly crashes mid playthrough. Not sure whats causing this issue.

I'll run benchmark and see if that helps showing the temps
I checked event viewer for the crash log.

Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000021f4fb

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

To be honest I'm beginning to think it could possibly be the power supply since some screws have fallen down basically the system not turned on. The psu I brought back in 2023 and it was a good quality platinum edition psu. Seems to be working alright.

cpu is at 89c for the short stress, thats too hot

ram isnt at xmp
in bios, enable xmp, should be on oc page

disabling e cores can make it run slightly cooler, and games run better since scheduler cant put the game to them

cpu cooler is the main thing tho
if its a clc, make sure the pump is at 100% all of the time, so it always has cool coolant going to the water block, it takes time for coolant to start flowing around the loop if its slowed or stopped
the error is Access violation . Could be many things - the CPU itself , SSD failure , virus, corrupted game or system file , RAM issue , overheating and etc

good point, missed that, bios is almost a year old

if it was overvolting the cpu, it could be damaging it faster
it may just be bad cpu degradation, if nothing works and its under warranty yet, contact intel for a replacement

it s unlikely the PSU because you would not have been able to see any logged error .it d just shutdown the PC or freeze it

Ah okay, so don't believe what ai says on google?

Unfortunately, it's probably this.

Anyway, 0xc0000005 is a memory access exception and is usually a software issue, but it can be a hardware instability issue. Since you're having the issue in multiple things and have one of those CPUs (in which the instability manifests as memory instability symptoms), I would say you should rule this out first, and you have a few troubleshooting steps you can do to see if this is it.

The first troubleshooting step I'd recommend is to disable XMP and run at stock memory speeds.

The second is to douwnload Intel XTU and set a p-core ratio limit of something like 50x (you can even try a bit lower, like 48x or 49x if you want, but usually 50x is enough). All this does is limits its boost to 5.0 GHz (from 5.60 GHz), effectively underclocking it. The reason for this is because the instability is usually triggered during these brief boosts to higher clock states/voltage.

If relaxing memory and reducing the boost brings stability back, then you most likely have a damaged CPU and need to RMA it.

Okay so I have limited the 14700k performance cores ratio to 50x. There is also Efficient cores ratio and core offset voltage. Do they need tweaking???

Cheers.
