Bios doesn't see bios file to flash
I just bought a brand new usb drive. Formatted it's 32gb partition to fat32. Bios doesn't see the file.
I have tried 2 different usb drives with the same result.
It's for an Asrock mboard and the file has been renamed to creative.rom as per their instructions.

Any ideas?

As I said, the file has been renamed to creative.rom as in the rom file itself, not a zip.

Already ticked.
Asrock Steel Legend X670e. Have done a bios update previously with no issues till now.
Have tried the bios port on the mboard itself at the rear panel and the usb port on the case.
are you using bios update from bios?
or the bios flashback method?

from within bios you shouldnt need to rename the file
browse to the drive and pick the .bin or .rom or whatever type it is

bios flashback, you need to plug it into the specific port
while its powered off, press and hold bios flashback button for a few seconds for it to start the update
and wait until its done flashing or state changes
then hit power to turn it on

once in windows you can verify bios version with cpuz
or hit del after post beep and see the bios version in bios

Only been trying from within the bios. Asrock wants the extracted file renamed to creative.rom on the fat32.
Just tried the flashback option and it's not working. Stays solid green.
Ok, even though Asrock states to rename the file before updating, it doesn't work now when trying to update. I left the file as is and am now updated.
Update the chipset driver first.

If you are using the standard BIOS update method, not Instant Flashback (man do I hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ option), do not rename the file, simply extract it.

You only rename the file, if applicable, using the off powered Flashback feature.

If the system is running fine, do not update the BIOS.

Read the BIOS revision prerequisites not only for the BIOS you are aiming to use but also the previous versions. There are issues with the RTX 50-series BIOS revision, FYI.

I have about 30 BIOS revisions on one flash drive for three PC's, no issues.

At least this issue/post has been resolved.

Did you insert it into a specific USB slot labeled BIOS?

wow, really?
you do not need update drivers to save a file on the usb stick
bios does not care about what is on the os drive at all, its not even looking at it before booting to the os
the file name bios might be looking for could be case sensitive
try with 'CREATIVE.ROM'
Some bios upgrades are one way. My asus rampage iii extreme did that. Once pass one cant go back down
