are temps staying under 95c?
disable windows auto reboot on bsod
so you know if its giving bsod or just rebooting
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/enable-or-disable-bsod-automatic-restart-in-windows-11.8084/
I cant interact with it and it only lasts a splt second before the whole Pc shuts off so not something I can mess around with sadly
Well, the reason I brought it up was just about whether that was really happening because it makes me almost think that program itself has something to do with the crash. If the program is crashing at the same exact moment within itself then it might be what's causing or related to bringing the rest of the pc down.
What program is that? within Steam?
Even if your PC has been perfectly stable for hundreds of hours, that doesn’t guarantee it won’t suddenly have issues. Software and hardware problems can appear out of nowhere. Similarly, when you hear someone say “all other games run fine but I always crash in this one,” that’s totally normal, it doesn’t mean their system is broken, it just means that particular game triggers something unusual in their setup.
One important thing, a hard crash without a BSOD usually points more strongly to a hardware problem than a software one. RAM issues, PSU instability, or VRM/board protection can cause the system to shut down instantly without giving Windows a chance to show a blue screen.
From what you describe, ahard crashes on certain games like Darktide and Helldivers 2, happening at weird moments (like menu screens or mission start/end) while CPU and GPU usage is low, and fans spiking, this usually points to hardware, power, or driver issues, not the games themselves.
Here’s what I’d suggest checking and trying for starters:
-Drivers & Software
-Reinstall of your AMD GPU drivers.
-Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date.
Temporarily disable overlays like AMD Overlay, Discord, or MSI Afterburnerthey can sometimes crash games.(although not very likely in your case)
Sudden fan spikes and random crashes can point to power delivery issues, especially if your PSU isn’t handling sudden voltage peaks well.
If you’re comfortable, you can try slightly undervolting the GPU to see if it helps.
Monitor VRM and hotspot temps, not just CPU/GPU cores. Sometimes the board or GPU shuts down to protect itself even if main temps look fine. The difference between hotspot and regular temps shouldnt be bigger than 20 degrees.
-Run MemTest86 for a few passes to check for errors.
If errors pop up, try disabling XMP or reseating the RAM.
-Run 3D Mark for a few passes. (GPU stability test)
-Run Prime95 for a few passes (CPU stability test)
Check for minidump files even if no BSOD appeared they might give more info than the generic 6008 code. You can share the dump files with us.
If it's a game issue, which Im pretty sure it isnt, verify or reinstall the games files, sometimes game caches get corrupted.
MemTest86 > USB > Run a few cycles overnight
In general, update BIOS and chipset driver to the latest version.
From the video:
The overlay readout gets stuck as soon as the scene changes, when the ship (or whatever the thing is) disappears. That happens before the text vanishes.
Try an FPS cap (f.e. 60) to evaluate if the crashes are related to load/power fluctuation.
If you have not set a 140 FPS limit, you're CPU-limited in the video above and the CPU is NOT at its "minimum stress".
