5090 price drop
ASUS has thier tuff 5090 for just under 2k on their website. Is now the time to jump on it or will it come down more? My dad is uses Blender and similar programs and the 16gig on his 4080 is limiting. Just wondering if he should snap it up or wait some more.

Like Jensen would say... the more you buy... the more you save!

If you got the money and you can justify it as a work and play purchase go for it... don't see it getting any cheaper just due to the ai craze.
Also don't think there will be a better product coming out soon for what this card does until the 6090 comes along and that will be at least scalped over 3k easily for who knows how long after launch.

As Jensen would say... it is safe to upgrade my friends.
A used car
A gpu with 9 year lifespan
?not ez choice

$2k divide by 10 =
$200 per year to own the gpu

Pretty easy choice, but the comparison is not really accurate though.
A $2000 GPU comes with at least a 2-year warranty and is designed to last several years under normal use, unlike a used car where safety and reliability can be a major concern. I wouldnt trust a used 2000 dollar car with my life. But that's just me.
Also, the 5090 has a good resale value, like almost all Nvidia high end GPUs which the used car lacks. Not to mention taxes, insurance, gas, inspection, etc. That 5090 just needs some juice, that's all.

So yeah, easy choice. ^^

--------------------------

As for the 5090, its price likely won’t drop before the 6090 release. In fact, it could even rise a bit because the 6090 might have limited availability, pushing more people toward the 5090. That was exactly what happened with the 4090 when it launched. So if your dad needs more VRAM for Blender and similar programs, now is probably a good time to consider it rather than wait. Also, prices seem to raise towards fall and winter.

Also… why doesn’t your dad just check this himself, with all due respect? If he’s using Blender, he should be tech-savvy enough to see the specs and prices. The 5090 goes for 2000 to 2400 since months where I live.

edit:
You are trying to convince your dad to get a 5090 so you can use it for gaming, right? That’s the case, isn’t it, you slick......? ;)

No one buying a 5090 should be buying it to lastonger than the next generation, if you don't upgrade each generation, you don't really need these cards, at best you can skip one.
Definitely seems that if you want/need a 5090... now is the time to get one. Just by virtue of being the best it will hold its value. Also with what the Chinese are doing in a year or two the price might rise due to them converting the models into 64 gig ones like they are doing with previous top end models... they basically take two gpus and make one with double the vram for work ai mining and what not. Booming business.

Most gamers don't but if the dad needs more vram for blender... he can easily justify the expense.

that seems pretty cheap for TUF I'd get it, 5090 is nice, TUF really didn't get any lower than £2.3k for me, sounds like a good deal.

Just make sure you have good cooling

for the room it's in

In which case if its for business it's a no brainier and they should already have one, ir one of the professional cards.
Thanks guys. No it's not for me to use lol, he is 70 and just does models and such for fun, but because he is semi retired he does it as much as his job. He asked me about it and I thought it sounded good but wanted some other feedback.

I just got my Aorus 5090 Master. Originally $6000 (Australian) Sale price $4800. I suppose the 2 ways to handle UE5 slop is either to reduce settings or brute force your way through. I chose the later.
why wait for your dad to buy a new gpu when you could get one yourself?

Never had an issue with UE5 even on a 3050 8GB lol, people do like to blame their unhealthy pc's and inability to select the right settings gir their hardware on problems on a game engine.
