That depends on how it is made, the build quality and electronics. It could be great, it could be trash.

Have you looked at Topre keyboards?
Who still uses that junk when you can get a minimalistic mechanical KB for like $40-50

Trying to type all day or do gaming on a $5-10 KB is about as dumb as a user can get. That's more for a senior citizen parent / grandparent

i dont really type that much and this is all started for one key being faulty and
warring out on a corsair gaming k55..... i did another post about the cheap fix
i did...

but bit i use a controller for gaming and just games with controller support...

and just wondering are membranes good or troublesome... simple...

i could easily spend the money and get a 2 colour mould keyboard mechanical even...
but i am cheap and dont need to be that special or really need it...
I would not trust a keyboard that cheap.

Check Rtings.com if your are still looking to buy, or curious.

Membrane =/= bad. Mechanical =/= good. Both can be good or bad. However ultimately mechanical is the worst.
Mechanical keyboards (clicky or tactile types like MX Blue/Green/etc) usually have a crisp feel when you tap on it, and I prefer these to what most would consider linear MX Red (or similar linear switches) to be the preferred gaming' switch.

I do have a preference for clicky switches, but I don't mind heavier linear switch like Black, my fave keyboard is the Topre RealForce 55G in my collection, feels so much better than even the MX switches I like.

Honestly, once you try mechanical keyboards, and find a switch you like, it's gonna be kinda hard to go back to membrane keyboard, I find it feels so 'mushy', I feel the same with MX Brown....

I find typing and gaming with the membrane keyboard on my Lenovo Legion laptop to be rather.....unpleasant, which is why I have a wireless Keychron keyboard for typing and gaming with my laptop. I'd even go through the added burden of bringing along the wireless keyboard + mouse when I go overseas for extended periods.

So you want a cheap keyboard that is not terrible and is a rubber dome switch? Maybe a Steelseries Apex 3.

not much about membrane covers

this post is specifically about membranes... covers for any keyboard cheap expensive
is not what its about...

i am asking people that maybe using them what they thing the goods and bads...

i dont wish to buy a new keyboard... i have 2 here already... a cheap back up connected
to the tv and the k55 i am using now which i am happy to keep...
Oh you are not asking about keyboards, but keyboard covers?

I don't like keyboard covers. They seem mostly to all be low quality and don't have a wide range of compatibility. But some people who use a keyboard they were made for, love them. But my knowledge on keyboard covers is very limited.

I don't want anything inhibiting functionality or performance.
it's hard to go back from mechanical, but if you think that paying $30-50 for a mechanical keyboard is too much then membrane is just fine, i guess. use whatever works for you, i wasn't complaining about membrane until i made the switch

$50 for a membrane with pretty lights? you're high as a kite
I imagine they drive you Insane in the Membrane, insane in the brain!!
i must admit i did think that this corsair gaming k55 keyboard did
use two colour mould keys for some reason and then realised its
clear keys painted.... ripped off... but anyway...

Uh no. I was not considering the lights, there is not much choice in the matter. I care about performance.

There are far more expensive membrane keyboards, such as Topre keyboards. Membrane =/= bad.
