Having trouble starting SteamDeck
Bought a brand new Steam Deck via the Steam website, trying to download the OS software on start up, Wifi is connected and fine, however, it isn't downloading, just getting the error 'UPDATE ERROR: An error was encountered during the update process, please try again' after the installation stage fails to install and I have to go back to square one. Tried to reboot holding start button and power did that - nothing. Tried to connect via mobile hotspot....again failed. Please can you help me with this as feel like I'm hitting a brick wall getting nowhere. Thanks in advance

There were some issues that people had with their WiFi on the OLED models depending on the WiFi chipset their router/AP used. There are several threads in the Steam Deck discussions regarding it with some workarounds and other methods people found that may work.

The first thing I'd try is to completely drain the battery and then put it on the charger for 2+ hours, then power it back on and attempt to go through the setup. This should reset the WiFi + Bluetooth chip and sometimes can resolve this issue.

To fully drain the battery essentially leave the Steam Deck on until it gets down to under 5%. Then restart it and boot it into the UEFI/BIOS and leave it sitting in there until it looses power. To boot into UEFI/BIOS power off the SteamDeck, then press and hold the Volume + button and press the power button (while still holding the Volume +) until you hear a beep; then release the power button and keep holding the Volume + button.
