[Issue] PC suddenly faced with internet issues
Good morning/afternoon!

So, last night my PC was working fine, But i wake up this morning and suddenly i'm faced with extremely low speeds that make no sense.

For context, i AM using my phone for wifi (like i had yesterday) because we have the unfortinute fate of having Spectrum as our internet provider, and our router has been acting up for the past 2 days.

To get to the point:

I've tried hotspot connection to my phone, as well as USB teathering, and i only manage (At this current moment of me checking):

Download - 0.7 - 0.2 mbps
upload - 0.6-0.7 mbps

I am no expert but that is extremely low numbers, and i have tried virtually everything i can find on the first page of google. I used command propmpt, I reinstalled my drivers, I've done basicly everything, yet nothing.

I'm absolutely clueless on what to do now, and i /really/ need my internet to continue my university work.

in canada isp's throtte "hoptspot" and teathering" on the phone, but if you just use the internet on the phone without sharing, you get full speed.

this is recent, this year they started throttling hotpot, sharing, teathering connections.

i have no idea HOW they do it, but its in their terms

a windows update may have reverted to generic drivers
get the correct ones from the mobo mfg site

also try disabling any vpn
After dad died we realized the internet at his house was slow because his wifi router was next to the cordless phone also using 2.4ghz and were jamming each other. We separated the devices and the internet was fast.

if its wired connections also had problems, that points to other possible solutions

but thatll do it
2.4 only has a few channels that do not overlap
but many devices can only use 2.4

if the router supports 5ghz that would fix it for devices that can use 5ghz
What you want to do anyways? Tethering or WiFi Hotspot from phone will run off of the Hotspot data. Which is often a very small amount for the month. So you definitely don't want to use it for Windows Updates, Steam Client or Game Updates or you'll go through that Hotspot data fairly quickly
As others have said, check your cellphone plan. Most likely you have a limited amount of data and/or you have an unlimited plan with a specific amount of “high speed” data for hotspot. After you’ve used up that amount of data you’ll be limited to 2g or 3g speeds which is inline with the speeds you posted. You should be able to check your data use on your carriers website or app.

I've looked aroudn and i think i found the issue.

I have the unfortinute misfortune to have Spectrum as our internet provider, and their must of been a outage in our area last night, according to some outage detector websites
if some sits work, but not others
change the dns servers on your router to google and cloudfare
8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 for google
1.1.1.1 for cloudfare
