Run Windows 10 version 22H2.
Have all pending updates installed, including the August 2025 patch KB5063709, which ensures the ESU enrollment feature shows up and fixes known wizard bugs.
Be activated using a Microsoft Account if enrolling—even after October 2025.
Not be joined to Active Directory, Entra, kiosk mode, or managed by MDM—these belong to business/enterprise enrollment paths.
The Microsoft account used to sign in to the device must be an administrator account.
The ESU license will be associated with the Microsoft account used to enroll. You may be prompted to sign in with a Microsoft account if you typically sign into Windows with a local account.
Extended security updates. Lets you get windows 10 updates for 1 more year for free if you sync your settings.
Thank You.
A while ago I read that you could use 1,000 points earned to get a year free, when I went to do that I got offered it free, as did a friend that didn't even previously have an MS account, he signed up for one and was given the option to get it for free.
Eu users get it free now and no syncing required. Need to log into the account every 60 days isn't good.
