the thing is you may not be aware that your mic is peaking all over the place lowering the volume of the mic would fix that
that said majority of headsets have bad audio that it is better just to abandon them all together the only suggestion i can give is from owning one is the razer seiren mini mic you can also get a boom arm pretty cheap
vibrating with the set an picking up the signal noise in the wire going to it
with most you can plug in a lapel mic and attach that by a wire to the headset if you are getting output sounds in the mic input
You should be able to go in and Test Sound with whatever device you have. Whatever you hear as feedback should give you a well enough example.
I am not sure the recording capabilities of said options.
I mean, Obviously, the sound will be different recorded compared to instant feedback.
